The agricultural cooperatives in Argentina today: Three cases from the perspective of social capital

Abstract
In this paper, we present a characterization of the agricultural cooperatives in Argentina. In particular, we are interested in the capacity of these organizations to generate social capital. In order to this, we present some specific cases. Thus, the work, that takes part of a larger investigation, is divided in two sections and conclusions. Firstly, we emphasize in the theoretical aspects about social capital and cooperative organizations. Secondly, we show, with this theoretical key, three cases of cooperatives of different types: FeCoVita, AFA and SanCor. Regarding with the methodology, we considerer a literature review related to the topic of social capital and, for the cases, we take institutional material provided for the organizations and specialized studies and interviews.
