Abstract

In the last 20 years, changes in the agricultural structure (use, possession, and distribution of land) have taken place in the North of the province of Cordoba. Changes in land use like deforestation for Bovine Livestock Production have caused variations in the distribution of land, prompting the concentration of this resource. This has accentuated the already existent and marked polarization of small and big farms. Regarding possession, the situation of some peasant families without ownership title gets worse, generating conflicts by their permanence, which more than 20 years ago was not a limiting factor for these production systems. In the described context the fieldwork was carried out, that had the objective of support the organization process through construction the history of the community and its reconstruction as from the members of the same. Is so from the analysis of the memory, comes up the association of it with the identity of the subjects who remember: the peasants. This paper aims to explain the relation between the collective memory and the identity of the peasant community of "La Costa", located in the north east of the province of Córdoba, Argentina.
