Abstract

This paper aims mainly to study and analyze the production and profitability of farming in Argentina. The paper will attempt to explore whether the fluctuations of activity are tied to changes in the economy as a whole and the agricultural sector in particular, or if on the contrary, this is a sector whose path has achieved independence from the rest of the activities. In accordance with the above, will be sought to account for the impact of economic policies and technological change on production and profitability of the sector, with particular attention to structural issues of activity, namely productivity, quantity, location and concentration of livestock . Also, in regards to this last variable, we will study its impact on small, medium and large producers. To perform this study, special attention will be discussed what happened after 2002, trying to rescue the ruptures and continuities that marked the abandonment of convertibility.
