Abstract

Rural areas have been impacted by changes in the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires. The changes of the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires have been impacted rural areas. Cañuelas, for example, is a village where “urban development projects” have advances, shifting agriculture. However, some of them try to be part of the "new rurality" that is wanted for the district.

This exploratory research seeks to contribute to state of the art about "new rurality". Specifically we inquire about territorial changes and development models that are vying for hegemony in the territory. An approach that combines urban and rural studies, a qualitative methodology and based on secondary sources were used. The results propose a difficult coexistence between land uses.
