Scientific experimentation, avian genetics and military dictatorship in the National Agricultural Technology Institute (1956-1976)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article deals with a pioneering experience in research and experimentation aimed at Argentine farming, developed in the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA). Aiming to assess changes and continuities in the orientation of the Institute's activities during the military intervention, and its links with the socio-economic dynamics of the period, the paper examines one of its research lines, dedicated to the development of a national avian genetic line. Based on scientific publications, institutional documents, contemporary press and interviews with key informants, it reconstructs and analyzes this development and its decommissioning during the last dictatorship (1976-1983).
